The Vernonia Pioneer Museum Association received a Museum Grant for textile and document conservation.
Vernonia Pioneer Museum
Oregon museums that meet certain qualifications are eligible to apply for Oregon Museum Grants. The grants support Oregon museums in projects for the collection and management of heritage collections, for heritage-related tourism, and heritage education and interpretations.
 
The next round of applications will likely be in the fall of 2011.

Museum Grant Awards
The Lane County Historical Society and Museum is scanning important photo images with its Oregon Museum Grant this year.
Lane County Historical Museum, Eugene
2009-2011
Albany Regional Museum. Purchase and install HVAC equipment for the top floor storage area, including electrical and duct work. $9,000.
 
Bosco-Milligan Foundation. Re-locate and re-house 200 historic stained glass windows and 134 historic plaster artifacts. $12,243.
 
Bush House Museum of the Salem Art Association. Support a workshop for museum registrars and curators in the most recent methodologies in object labeling. $2,024
 
Crook County Historical Society, support development of an oral history center with purchase of audio, video and other equipment. $5,000.
 
Fairview-Rockwood-Wilkes Historical Society.  Purchase archival materials to organize and store 7,850 items.  $1,550.
 
Grant County Ranch and Rodeo Museum. Purchase muse collection software to catalog about 300 artifacts and 375 photographs.  $870.
 
Independence Heritage Museum. Repair and replace the roof and eaves of the historic museum building. $5,000.
 
Lane County Historical Society and Museum. Digitize approximately 5,600 photographs. $5,000.
 
Oregon Jewish Museum. To work in a collaboration to preserve and interpret the collections of the Berry Botanic Garden, including interpretive and fundraising plans. $9,000.
 
Oregon Nikkei Legacy Center. Digitze oral history video- and audio-tape collection, and tag, describe and organize material in collections managment database. $10,000.
 
Southern Oregon Historical Society. Survey, assess, photograph and barcode approximately 1,000 paintings in its collection. $6,965.
 
Spray Pioneer Museum.  Install a new shingle roof on the museum building. $6,900.
 
Tamastslikt Cultural Institute. Create an interactive space for children and family visitors, including a sound system, elements of a dwelling, and interpretational objects. $7,006.
 
Washington County Historical Society.  Purchase and install museum-quality shelving and a mezzanine in the museum's collection area. $9,000.
 
Willamette Heritage Center.  Inventory the collections of the Marion County Historical Society and Mission Mill, including photographing and cataloging any previously unphotographed and uncataloged items and completing condition reports on all of then.  $4,784.
 
Museum at Warm Springs.  Research, design, production and installation of 11 interpretive panels for the nature walk. $5,658.
